Azure Files — Let’s create it!
In this guide, we will learn how to create the Azure FileShare. With that, we will also configure the backup of the AzureFile/FileShare with Azure Backup Vault Service.
To start learning it, you will just require an Azure Cloud account and enough access to create and manage the Azure Storage Accounts.
Assuming you have, let’s start then,
How to create the Azure Files/FileShare?
- Log on to portal.azure.com
- Go to the
Storage Accounts
. You can find it by searching in the top search box.
3. Now click to + Create
button on the left to create the Storage Account. Skip this step if you have already had a storage account and you want to use it.
- Select your
subscription
andresource-group
under which you want to create the storage account. - Enter the name of the
storage-account
. - Select the
Location
of the storage account and theRedundancy
.
- You can skip the other settings like
Advance
,Network
, etc as default and at the end click toCreate
button.
4. Now let’s go to the Storage Account
and go to the File Share
.
- Enter the FileShare
Name
andQuota
as you want. - Select the
Tier
based on your data usage. - Click on
Create
the button.
5. Now, your AzureFile/FileShare account is ready. You can upload the data and ready to start using it.
How to set backup for Azure Files/FileShare?
Azure Files/FileShare used the Azure Backup Vault service to create, manage and store the backup.
- Inside your FileShare, select the
Backup
option on the left bottom. - To create the new Backup vault, enter the
Vault Name
and select theResoruce Group
to create the Vault. - Configure the Backup Policy by selecting
Edit Policy
the option. The backup policy allows to configureBackup Schdule
andBackup Retension
.
4. Click to Enable Backup
. Bingo! your Azure Files/FileShare automated backup is now ready.
